The Methodist Ecumenical Office Rome invites you to a special 1-hour webinar on Thursday, 10 December 2020 at 17:30 Rome time (+1 UTC) on the international Methodist-Catholic bilateral dialogue.
The Methodist-Roman Catholic International Commission (MERCIC) began its latest dialogue round in 2017 which also marked the 50th anniversary of the commission. The commission’s dialogue theme for its 11th dialogue round is reconciliation.
The 10 December webinar will focus on the commission’s history and dialogue process, how reconciliation relates to the trajectory of international Methodist-Catholic dialogue, Methodist and Catholic understandings of reconciliation, and personal discoveries made during the dialogue process.
The webinar speakers are the MERCIC co-chairs:
- Bishop John Sherringtonis the auxiliary bishop of Westminster (UK) in the Roman Catholic Church
- The Revd Dr. David Chapmanis the chair of the Bedfordshire, Essex and Hertfordshire District in the Methodist Church of Great Britain
The Reverend Matthew A. Laferty, director of the Methodist Ecumenical Office Rome and the representative of the World Methodist Council to the Holy See, will moderate the webinar.
